Audio-Digest Foundation Announces the Release of Obstetrics/Gynecology Volume 60, Issue 01: Considerations in Pregnancy.

The goals of this program are to improve obstetric outcomes through the appropriate use of ultrasonography (US), timing of umbilical cord clamping, and training in interpretation and management of fetal heart rate tracings. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:

1. Use US to augment the evaluation of patients presenting with common obstetric scenarios such as suspected preterm labor, rupture of membranes, abnormal placentation, placental abruption, and nonreassuring fetal heart rate (FHR) tracing.

2. Use US findings to evaluate and advise a patient contemplating vaginal birth after cesarean delivery.

3. List the advantages and possible harms of delayed cord clamping in term and preterm infants.

4. Create an institutional algorithm for management of umbilical cord clamping.

5. Design an integrated multidisciplinary program for educating labor and delivery personnel on triage and management of FHR tracings during labor.

The original programs were presented by Robert A. Wiebe, MD, Clinical Professor, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, and Lalit Bajaj, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, University of Colorado School of Medicine, and Research Director, Section of Emergency Medicine, Children’s Hospital, Denver.
